Entries from Mom's Journals

It has been a while since I posted entries from my Mom's journals so I better get busy.  I went to Ohio for a visit in September.  While there, I helped my mom with her quilting by cutting out lots of 3 1/2 inch blocks of brightly colored fabrics.  I kept reminding her that they looked like precious jewels, the kind that will be in her heavenly crown.  My mom is a rare jewel....even in her twilight years, she is still an amazing woman.

Journal Entries:

October 1, 1956--Sarah is 2 months old.  Sarah weighs 10lbs. 4 oz.  Last night she had her feeding of cereal at 9pm and slept until 6 this morning!  That is the longest nap yet!  She is 22 1/2 inches long.

October 1, 1972--(Review)  Rom. 8:26
"..the Holy Spirit prays for us (me) with such feeling it cannot be expressed in words.  And the Father knows of course what the Spirit is saying as He pleads for us in harmony with God's own will."
Holy Spirit continue to plead for me.  Thank you Jesus for your spirit that dwells in me.  Lord guide me this day.  Triumph over all my stumbling efforts.  Let your Gospel story be like a fragrant perfume that draws others.  Keep it flowing from my life.  Thank you for the fragrance of Christ within me.

October 1, 1982--Psalm 5:3  "In the morning and in the night"
In the morning you hear my voice O Lord; in the morning I prepare [a prayer, a sacrifice] for You, and watch and wait [for you to speak to my heart].

Psalm 63: 5-6  "......and my mouth shall praise You....  When I remember You upon my bed, and meditate on You in the night watches.

One of the blessings of having a Godly mother is that even now, in these twilight years, she still prays blessings for her family.   Lord, bless my Mother and give her Your peace.  Amen.

  1. 'the holy spirit prays for us..' - I have read that lots of times but as I read it here I see His faithfulness over her lifetime. Those prayers are for her kids and grandkids and the Glory of the Lord in her life. What a joy to read this post, Sarah. <3
